  • Inclusive therapy means making therapy safe and accessible for those who have been historically marginalized. In our work together, we’ll consider oppressive societal norms and how those impact your current and past experiences. Anti-racism isn’t a one-time antidote to racial injustice and white supremacy. Therapists at Sanctuary Counseling are committed to actively dismantling racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, fatphobia, and other inequities as an active, lifelong practice. A note from Celia: “As a white passing, cis-gender, queer, person of color I’ve benefited from privilege and regularly prioritize ownership of how this comes into play in my work with clients and in my personal life.”

  • The age-old question! Can I be healed, like, right now?! Oftentimes, we are desperate to feel better when we start therapy. How long therapy takes depends on many different factors - such as, your goals, the intensity and duration of your concern, the frequency of therapy, your current support system, and many others. Because healing isn’t a linear process, there is no concrete timeline of when therapy will feel like it’s working or be “done.” However, we’re committed to helping you think through how much therapy you want, when you’re ready to pause or end therapy, and what goals are most important to tackle right now. You can end or pause therapy whenever you’re ready to and we work to empower you in that decision-making.

  • As of January 1, 2022, Federal protections were put in effect regarding balance billing (also called “surprise billing”). Senate Bill 1264 from the Texas Legislature also protects consumers with state-regulated health insurance plans from unauthorized balance billing in emergencies or situations when the consumer did not select their provider. Find out more about these protections by clicking here.
